SENDO-RYU HOME STUDY BLACK BELT COURSE/PROGRAM

The candidate for this program must be Nikyu/Ikkyu or Shodan in his/her style, must be a member of the ISRKF (The federation must be paid in full) They must purchase the Sendo-Ryu tape and the Handbook, must have basic knowledge in Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido or Aikijujitsu for obtaining the Shodan or Nidan level in the Sendo-Ryu Karatedo style. After one year and one half (it is considered a sufficient time for studying the Sendo-Ryu tape), the candidate must send his/her video tape to Hombu for evaluation. The tape should consist of the following:

1) Kihon Waza (basic techniques) executed with perfect Kime (focus), these are the following techniques:

  • Uke (blocks): Different types of blocks (soft and hard)
  • Tsuki, Uchi (punches and strikes): Example: Oi Zuki, Jun Zuki, Gyaku Zuki (reverse punch), Uraken Uchi (backfist strike), Haito Uchi (ridge hand strike), etc...
  • Geri (kicks): Different types of kicks: front, side, back, roundhouse, back roundhouse, back roundhouse side kick, etc...
  • Tai Sabaki (body shifting)
  • Turnings

2) Must demonstrate the Sanbon Kumite, Nihon Kumite, Ippon Kumite and the Kihon-Kata-Kumite showed in the tape, also all of the Katas and the Tanto Katamust be performed and understood well.

After the evaluation of the candidate's video tape, the Hombu will set a date for the examination and will call the candidate or postpone the exam for another one-half or one year if the candidate's tape is not satisfactory for the SOKE. The candidate can go for examination at his/her Dojo. For this, the candidate will call the Hombu and will set a date for his/her exam with the Hombu delegate. The candidate must pay the airfare/transportation, car expenses, accommodation and meals for the entire examination time (to be one or two days).

If the candidate wishes to take the exam after one year of studying the Sendo-Ryu tape, even the Hombu do not consider the time for the examination or the candidate tape is not satisfactory, then the candidate must attend a short seminar 4-6 days at his Dojo or at the Hombu. After a successful examination, the candidate will receive his/her black belt diploma. If the candidate fails the examination, he/she will not lose the money for the examination, rather he/she can try again one more time after a half or a full year.

The cost of this program is only $149.95 which includes the video, handbook, patch, and tee shirt of the federation. The cost for the rank Ikkyu, Shodan or Nidan must be deposited prior to the examination. After passing successfully, the candidate will receive his/her diploma for the rank.
